How it works

How a breaking job goes

  1. 1

    You send photos and measurements

We check access, thickness and reinforcement, and quote breaking and haul-away separately.

  2. 2

    We agree the scope

What gets broken, what stays, where the debris goes, and the date.

  3. 3

We break and, if you chose it, haul away

On the agreed date, with the machine ready. You pay when the job is done.

Questions

Questions about this service.

How much does it cost to break and remove a concrete patio or walkway?

It depends on the square footage, the thickness, whether it has rebar or mesh, the access, and whether you want the debris hauled away. We quote breaking and haul-away separately so you see both numbers.

Can you break concrete with rebar or mesh?

Yes. Let us know if the slab has rebar or mesh, because it changes the working time and the haul-away, and we include it in the quote.

Do you haul away the broken concrete?

We can. Tell us in the form whether you want breaking only or breaking plus load-out and haul-away, and we quote it separately so you see both numbers.

What access does the machine need?

A compact skid steer needs a clear path roughly 4 feet wide with no steps. If your gate is narrower, send us a photo and we tell you what is possible.

Will the machine damage my lawn or driveway?

Before we start, we go over with you where the machine comes in and out and what is in the way (lawn, pavers, sprinklers). If anything concerns us, we tell you before we begin.

How soon can you come out?

It depends on the week’s schedule. Put your date in the form and we confirm availability along with the quote.

Are you a licensed contractor?

No. GroundPilot is not a licensed contractor, so we only take small jobs under $1,000 (labor and materials combined). We carry liability insurance. If your project is bigger, we’ll let you know before quoting and point you to a licensed contractor.

Is there a minimum charge?

Yes. Every job includes a mobilization minimum that covers bringing the machine to your site. It always shows in your quote before you say yes.

When do I pay?

After the work is done and you have looked it over. No deposits to book a standard job.

Do you work with contractors on a recurring basis?

That is our favorite kind of work. Fence and concrete contractors can send us jobs as they come in; we keep the pricing consistent and the scheduling simple.

Do you set the posts or pour the concrete?

No. We focus on drilling and breaking; setting posts and pouring is done by your crew or your installer.

Which cities do you cover?

Fairfield, Suisun City and Vacaville, and nearby cities in Solano and Napa counties (for example Cordelia, Green Valley, Benicia, Dixon, Vallejo, American Canyon or Napa) — ask us.
